A Journey to Mastery: Guitar Maker and Restorer

At the age of 16, he began training as a guitar maker at the International Luthiery School of Antwerp (ILSA). Graduation three years later was followed by studies in the restoration of musical instruments. During this time, he began independent work on various instruments and experimentation with different techniques and methods in the dormitory in Belgium.

Apprenticeship with the Master Stephen Hill

In 2016, the guitar maker worked as an apprentice with Master Stephen Hill in La Herradura, Granada. A year after this inspiring experience, he returned to La Herradura to continue working and learning with Stephen. During this time, the idea of opening his own workshop in Spain was born.

Establishing His Own Workshop in Spain

In October 2017, shortly after receiving his diploma in instrument restoration, he moved to Andalusia with all his equipment and tools to open his own workshop in Dúrcal, Granada. About a year later, he moved to the neighboring village of Nigüelas and began setting up a new workshop. In June 2019, the new workshop was officially opened.

A Modern Approach to the Spanish Guitar-Making Tradition

Like many other guitar makers, he relies on Antonio De Torres’ method for the handmade construction of classical and flamenco guitars. With respect for the Spanish guitar-building tradition, he crafts handmade guitars with a modern approach to tradition. Each instrument has a unique sound and aesthetic. He has a special interest in historical instruments, which has led him to make a copy of a Luis Panormo guitar and restore several interesting instruments of the past. Along the way, he has made several other instruments, such as an acoustic bass, several electric guitars, and some percussion instruments.
