Henner Hagenlocher is a renowned German luthier who has found his artistic home in Granada, Spain. Embracing the traditions of the Granada school of guitar making, he harmoniously blends historical craftsmanship with contemporary insight to create instruments admired worldwide.

A Musical Path to Granada

After relocating to Granada, Hagenlocher studied Music Technology at London Guildhall University. There he explored modern guitar design concepts focused on enhancing projection, but found that many of these resulted in instruments that were too heavy and lacked refinement.

His direction changed profoundly when he encountered a guitar made by Antonio Marin, owned by one of his teachers. Its delicacy and expressive tone left a lasting impression and sparked his passion for the Granada style.

The Turning Point

In 1996, Hagenlocher visited Antonio Marin’s workshop in Granada. This experience inspired him to open his own workshop nearby, marking the beginning of his journey into becoming a key figure in the Granada guitar-making tradition.

Uniting Past and Present

Hagenlocher draws inspiration from Spanish masters such as Torres, Santos Hernandez, and Manuel Ramirez, while adding his own artistic identity. His guitars preserve the subtle elegance of the Granada tradition while offering the immediacy and power sought by modern players.

Rather than producing replicas, Hagenlocher creates instruments that reinterpret classical models with contemporary precision. His guitars are known for their excellent projection, sensitivity, and tonal richness, which have earned them international recognition.
