Master Luthiers: A Craft Passed Down from Generation to Generation
Born in Milan in 1971, this master luthier earned his diploma from the Civica Scuola di Liuteria in Milan in 1996. Throughout his illustrious career, he has crafted over 250 instruments, transcending the art and science of lutherie.
The Influence of Historical Master Luthiers
His inspiration stems from historical master luthiers like Antonio De Torres, Hermann Hauser I, Pietro Gallinotti, Francisco Simplicio, and Louis Panormo. The opportunity to study and measure their works has profoundly shaped his concept of sound and aesthetics.
In-Depth Studies and Replicas of Historical Instruments
In 2007, he extensively examined Miguel Llobet’s 1859 guitar at the Music Museum of Barcelona, which inspired Hauser I, and Antonio De Torres’ iconic “Papier Machè” guitar from 1862. Over the years, he has crafted several replicas of these historical instruments.
Contributions to the Luthier Community
He has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions and delivered lectures at conservatories, music schools, museums, and major guitar festivals across Italy, Europe, and Central America. In 2016, he collaborated on the development of the “Arcimbolda” guitar, a unique piece created by a collective of 15 luthiers.
Life and Work in Liguria
For over two decades, he has lived and worked in the tranquil hinterlands of Liguria, surrounded by the olive trees of Olle that envelop his home and workshop.
