About the Guitar Maker
Enrico Bottelli is an Italian master luthier celebrated for his exceptional craftsmanship, tonal refinement, and artistic elegance. Each of his guitars is meticulously handcrafted in his workshop as part of a very limited production, focusing on four key aspects of luthiery: workmanship, aesthetics, material selection, and sound.
Bottelli’s instruments reflect his uncompromising pursuit of excellence. Every detail is executed with care, patience, and precision. The soundboards are made from carefully selected European Alpine spruce, while the backs and sides are crafted from Brazilian or high-grade Indian rosewood. Necks are made from Central American mahogany or Cedrela, and fingerboards from black, quarter-sawn African or Indian ebony.
All tonewoods are air-dried for a minimum of five years, though Bottelli rarely uses wood with less than ten years of seasoning. Each selection is made personally, based on tonal and aesthetic qualities as well as the player’s preferences. Every brace is individually tested for strength before being glued to the soundboard, using traditional animal hide glue for the entire instrument to ensure optimal resonance and vibration transfer.
Rosettes, bindings, and purflings are hand-designed and crafted from solid natural woods—never dyed materials. Even the interior surfaces of the instrument are meticulously sanded and finished to enhance acoustic reflection. Special attention is given to intonation, with a compensated saddle and nut ensuring perfect pitch accuracy. Each guitar is finished in hand-rubbed French-polished shellac, offering unmatched acoustic and visual beauty.
Bottelli uses only the finest hardware and accessories, including Sloane, Alessi, or Rodgers tuners and Hiscox or Ika cases. Every instrument is a unique creation, characterized by elegance, tonal perfection, and artistic individuality. With his devotion to tradition and innovation, Erico Bottelli stands as one of the foremost figures in contemporary Italian guitar making, crafting instruments that are as visually stunning as they are musically inspiring.
