Alessandro Perciaccante – Master Luthier with a Spanish Soul

Alessandro Perciaccante is one of the most promising emerging luthiers of his generation. With an unwavering pursuit of perfection and a deep respect for Spanish guitar-making traditions, he seamlessly blends traditional craftsmanship with modern influences to create unique classical and flamenco guitars.

From Passion to Profession – The Journey of a Master

Alessandro’s journey began at the age of 13, when he received his first classical guitar—the start of a lifelong passion. In 2017, he moved to Spain to deepen his understanding of the art of guitar making.

In a picturesque coastal village in the province of Granada, he discovered the workshop of Stephen Hill, one of Europe’s most esteemed luthiers, located at the European Institute of Guitar Making (EIGM). Under the mentorship of Stephen Hill and Evan Kingma, Alessandro built his first guitar—an experience that ignited an even greater passion for the craft.

Through continuous refinement of his skills in Hill’s workshop, he eventually became his official apprentice and began crafting Hill’s Model 2 classical and flamenco guitars. Today, Alessandro is Stephen’s right-hand man, working on his elite Master Model guitars—a privilege previously granted to only one other apprentice.

Influences and Inspiration – The Granada School of Luthiers

As Alessandro continued to grow in his craft, he developed a deep admiration for the great Granada School luthiers. His work is heavily inspired by Antonio Marín Montero and his collaboration with the renowned French luthier Robert Bouchet.

He holds a special reverence for Don Antonio de Torres, the pioneer of the modern Spanish guitar. This legacy is reflected in his instruments, which merge classical principles with modern refinements to achieve exceptional tonal quality.

Custom-Built Guitars – Tailored Perfection

Alessandro takes a customer-centric approach, emphasizing close collaboration throughout the building process. He keeps his clients informed about every stage of construction and actively seeks their feedback to ensure that each instrument aligns perfectly with their preferences and playing style.

He also offers, upon request, compact-bodied romantic guitars with a shorter scale length, ideal for players looking for a more comfortable and easily playable instrument.

Exclusivity and Quality – Guitars with a Soul

To maintain the highest quality, Alessandro limits his production to a select number of guitars per year. This ensures that every instrument meets his exacting standards. His guitars are not just works of art but also exceptional musical instruments, renowned for their superior projection, responsiveness, and dynamic range.

Achievements and International Recognition

His craftsmanship has already received acclaim at the highest levels. In 2019, Alessandro participated in the “Antonio Marín Montero International Guitar-Making Competition” in Granada, one of the most prestigious events in the industry.

  • Competing against over 20 skilled luthiers worldwide, he presented a flamenco guitar, which received high praise from the jury.
  • Finalist and 4th place winner – A remarkable achievement, considering his entry was only his fourth guitar.
  • The competition provided him with a unique learning experience, allowing him to observe and integrate techniques from other master luthiers into his own work.

This milestone solidified his reputation and affirmed his exceptional craftsmanship and technical ability.
