Duo Singer & Fischer
Duo Singer & Fischer
The two musicians Sébastien Singer (cello) and André Fischer (guitar) have performed together since their student years. As passionate chamber musicians, they chose not only to explore the original repertoire for their distinctive combination but also to expand it through transcriptions of masterpieces from the concert literature. Their repertoire includes Schubert’s renowned Arpeggione Sonata, Piazzolla’s Four Tangos, Bach’s Gamba Sonatas, and De Falla’s suite L’Amour Sorcier.
Musical Collaboration
Their ongoing search for an ideal tonal blend between their contrasting instruments, together with many conversations about life and the world, has shaped not only a remarkably unified performance style but also a profound friendship.
Recordings
In 2015, the Stradivarius label released the duo’s recording of Bach’s Gamba Sonatas, transcribed by Fischer. The album was warmly received by listeners and the international press, even earning the humorous “Granny Award,” bestowed by subjective and delightfully biased grandmothers.
Contemporary Music
Convinced that every serious concert musician should engage with contemporary repertoire, Singer & Fischer commissioned new works from several composers. As a result, Leo Brouwer, Guy Bovet, and Martin Wettstein dedicated compositions to the duo.
Concert Series
In 2009, Singer & Fischer founded Les Concerts de Camille, a concert series now firmly established in the musical life of Neuchâtel. Each event combines a curated musical program with a wine tasting, creating a refined connection between musical and oenological delights.
