Duo Singer & Fischer
Duo Singer & Fischer
The two musicians Sébastien Singer (cello) and André Fischer (guitar) have formed a duo since their student days. As both are passionate chamber musicians, they decided not only to dedicate themselves to the original repertoire of their extraordinary formation, but also to expand it with transcriptions of masterpieces from the concert literature. Today, the duo’s repertoire includes Schubert’s famous “Arpeggione” Sonata, Piazzolla’s Four Tangos for Flute, Bach’s Gamba Sonatas, and De Falla’s suite “L’Amour Sorcier.”
Musical Collaboration
Their constant search for an optimal tonal fusion of their two contrasting instruments, along with many discussions about life and the world, contributed not only to a remarkably harmonious performance but also to a profound friendship.
Recordings
In 2015, the Stradivarius label released the Bach Gamba Sonatas recorded by the duo, which had been transcribed by André Fischer himself. Enthusiastically received by music lovers and the international press alike, the recording even won the “Granny Award,” the coveted prize humorously bestowed by subjective and corrupt grandmothers.
Contemporary Music
Convinced that every “concert musician” should also be interested in contemporary music, Singer & Fischer commissioned new works from several composers. As a result, Leo Brouwer, Guy Bovet, and Martin Wettstein dedicated new works to the ensemble.
Concert Series
In 2009, Singer & Fischer founded “Les Concerts de Camille,” a concert series now firmly established in the musical life of Neuchâtel, which combines every musical program with a wine tasting – a subtle bridge between musical and oenological “bijoux.”
