Pavel Khlopovskiy: Classical Guitarist and Educator
Pavel Khlopovskiy, a talented classical guitarist, was born and raised in Moscow, surrounded by music. His father was a distinguished concert solo guitarist, and his mother was a guitar teacher, shaping Pavel’s early exposure to the world of music. Pavel began his musical training at the age of six, studying piano at the Youth Music School. Although he initially played guitar for fun, it wasn’t until he discovered recordings of Andrés Segovia, the legendary Spanish guitarist, that he became truly passionate about the instrument.
At the age of 13, inspired by Segovia’s artistry, Pavel made the decision to pursue classical guitar seriously. His talent was quickly recognized, and by 15, he had successfully passed the entrance exams at the Moscow Conservatory Music College as a guitarist in 1990.
Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, Pavel seized the opportunity to further his education in Germany. He continued his studies at the University of Music in Lübeck under Prof. A. Aigner and later at the University of Music in Karlsruhe with Prof. Andreas von Wangenheim, who significantly influenced his musical development. Pavel’s dream came full circle when he was accepted into the master class of renowned guitarist Oscar Ghiglia at the Basel Music Academy, where he graduated with distinction in 2005.
