Scottish guitarist Matthew McAllister is widely recognized as one of Europe’s most engaging and accomplished classical guitarists. His concerts captivate audiences through refined musicianship, natural stage presence and an effortless sense of communication. Over more than a decade, he has built a career that bridges artistry, teaching and community engagement.

Concert career

Matthew has performed in many of the world’s leading concert halls, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Purcell Room and St Martin-in-the-Fields in London, Teatro Británico in Lima, The Sage in Gateshead, Cenart in Mexico City, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, the Eugene O’Neill Theater in San Jose and the Dom Armije in Sarajevo. His international tours have taken him across North and South America, Canada, Europe and Asia, both as a soloist and chamber musician.

His discography with Baros Records reflects his versatility and commitment to exploring diverse repertoire, presenting both established works and new compositions with a personal touch.

Artistic collaborations

Recently, Matthew began a duo project with guitarist and composer Matthew Cochran. The pair have quickly gained recognition for their imaginative programming and relaxed, communicative performance style, establishing themselves as a distinctive presence on the international guitar stage.

Teaching and artistic leadership

Alongside his performing career, Matthew is a dedicated educator. He teaches classical guitar at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and serves as Director of the Classical Guitar Retreat, an event known for its inspiring atmosphere and focus on artistic exchange.
