Augustin Wiedemann
In 1992, Augustin Wiedemann was the winner of the 6th International Guitar Competition of Havana/Cuba. At this highly prestigious international competition, he was also awarded four special prizes (including for the best interpretation of Spanish music and for the best interpretation of Cuban music by a foreigner).
From 2001 to 2004, he taught as an assistant to Prof. Eliot Fisk at the University Mozarteum in Salzburg. Wiedemann has performed as a soloist in the USA, South Korea, Russia, Cuba, Sweden, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany (Tyrolean Festival, European Weeks/Passau, Munich Biennale, among others). He has also performed with various orchestras such as the “Members of the Munich Philharmonic” and the “South Bohemian Chamber Philharmonic Budweis.”
In addition to his solo career, Augustin Wiedemann also plays chamber music with partners such as Daniel Giglberger (violin) and in the crossover project “Classic meets Soul” with the singer and guitarist Kosho (guitarist of the hip hop/rock band “Söhne Mannheims”).
After his first two CDs, released on Arte Nova/Sony BMG, he published the CD “Classic meets Soul – Live in Munich” as well as “Bach meets Monk” and “324” on wildner records. In autumn 2011, the CD “Symphony” with music by the Russian composer Boris Yoffe was released on wildner records.
In 2005, Augustin Wiedemann was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the “Hermann Hauser Guitar Foundation.” In the academic year 2006/07, he taught as a visiting professor at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. In December 2008, he was awarded the “Pasing Art and Culture Prize” in Munich.
Since September 2011, Augustin Wiedemann has been teaching as a Professor of Guitar at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory in Feldkirch/Austria.
