John Ray moved to Granada from his native Canada in 1989 in order to learn to build guitars. Since that time he has benefitted from the generosity of the Granada guitar-makers especially the late Rolf Eichinger. John has always been interested in historic guitars and is active in restoration and writing about these instruments. He has restored instruments by Miguel Rodriguez, Vicente Arias, Manuel Ramirez, Salvador Ibañez and others. The influence of the historic makers and the current makers have helped his guitars become very popular among profesional players and teachers. Guitarists find that they can shape the sound very easily with these guitars and that they are very easy to play. John publishes observations about his work and the historic instruments that he works on in his workshop: Granadaexpert.com
