René Baarslag, born in 1948 in Heerlen, the Netherlands, combines his background in mechanical engineering with a deep passion for classical and flamenco guitar—a passion that led him to move to Granada, Spain, where he trained under Antonio Marín and began his career as a luthier. This foundation allowed him to merge technical precision with the artistry of traditional Spanish guitar making, shaping a distinguished career defined by excellence and innovation.
René’s approach harmoniously blends technical expertise with the emotional depth of the Spanish guitar tradition. His lifelong pursuit has been to enhance the acoustic performance and expressiveness of his instruments while preserving their warmth, balance, and tonal purity.
